Privacy Policy

1. Screenshots

DustyWire works by taking screenshots of your desktop so the agent can see your screen. Each screenshot is sent to a model provider for that step only.

We never store screenshots on DustyWire servers — not during a run, not when you report a problem, not for support. We pass them through to run your request and keep no copy afterward. We do not download or archive them for our staff.

Screenshots may be saved on your computer as part of your local chat history. That copy stays on your device under your control.

2. What we store about a run

When you run the agent, we automatically store limited data so we can measure success and improve the product. By default we do not store the text of your request.

• Whether the run succeeded or failed
• A category for the request (not the request text)
• Apps the run tried to help with
• Website domains when the run involves a site
• Billed cost and model usage (for your account history)

3. Feedback

If something goes wrong and you choose to report it, we may then store the text of your request so we can help. We still never store screenshots — not even when you ask us to investigate. That text is often enough; if it is not, we may not be able to fully help. Contact us via dustywire.com if you need support.

4. OpenAI and Anthropic

DustyWire uses a blend of OpenAI and Anthropic models. When you use our built-in models, your prompts and screenshots are sent to them mixed in with all of our customers — not tied to your personal accounts. What they keep is spelled out in OpenAI's API data policy and Anthropic's privacy policy. We do control what we keep.

We do not attach your name or email to what we send upstream.

If you use your own API key (bring-your-own-key mode), requests go directly from your computer to the provider you chose, under your account with them.

5. Account, billing & projects

• Account: email and a hashed password
• Billing: credits and payments via Stripe (we do not store your card number)
• Projects, tasks, and skills you create are stored because you asked us to keep them

6. Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with providers needed to run the Service (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, and our database host), or when the law requires us to.

7. Retention

Stored data is automatically deleted after 12 months, except when we must keep a record longer to comply with law (for example certain billing records) or while your account and projects need to stay active for the Service to work.
